Reasonable adjustments and special learning needs:
Australian School Of Commerce works to ensure that students with recognized disadvantages
can access and participate in education and training on the same basis as other students.
Disadvantages may be based, for example, upon age, cultural background, physical disability,
limited or non-current industry experience, language, numeracy or digital literacy issues.
Where pre-training interviews and LLN assessments reveal that a student may require special
support or where, after enrolment, it is made apparent that the student requires special support,
reasonable adjustments will be made to the learning environment, training delivery, learning
resources and/or assessment tasks to accommodate the particular needs of the student. An
adjustment is reasonable if it can accommodate the student’s particular needs, while also
taking into account factors such as the student’s views, the potential effect of the adjustment
on the student and others and the costs and benefits of making the adjustment.
Any adjustments made must:
• be discussed, agreed and documented in the assessment record
• benefit the student
• maintain the integrity of the competency standards and course requirements as stipulated
in the training package
• be reasonable to expect in a workplace.
Reasonable adjustment may consist of:
• providing additional time for students to complete learning and assessment tasks
• presenting questions orally for students with literacy issues
• asking questions in a relevant practical context
• using large print material
• extending the course duration
• Presenting work instructions in diagrammatic or pictorial form instead of words and
sentences.
Complaints and appeals:
If you are dissatisfied with an assessment outcome, you may appeal the assessment decision. In
the first instance, you are encouraged to appeal informally by contacting the assessor and
discussing the matter with them. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of such discussion, you
may appeal further to training manager. If you are still dissatisfied, you may appeal formally and
in writing to have the result reviewed. For more information, refer to the Assessment Policy and

satisfaction will help ensure new staff in Brisbane and Perth are happy and settling into their roles. This is particularly relevant during the first six months when staff turnover can be high.
o Kelly Munro:
▪ Kelly’s customer focus will be
instrumental in this project. As
CBSA has a very small existing
client base in these markets
Kelly’s experience with cold
calling and researching
opportunities will be much
needed.
▪ Kelly will be responsible for
identifying and analysing
potential new clients and
business streams.
▪ Kelly’s excellent presentation
and communication skills will
be used as the ‘front of house’
person for CBSA in these new
markets – attending
networking events, visiting
potential customers and
attending trade shows.
• Describing three main responsibilities (per
person) on the project. No specific
requirements are defined however
responsibilities must align with skills and
capabilities. This may include:
o Zane O’Brien:
▪ Zane is shown to not be very
effective at managing his
time, therefore consideration
needs to be given as to how
he will manage these
responsibilities within 10 hours.
It is considered that he will not
be able to take on these
responsibilities and perform all
aspects of his current role.

Part A: REVIEW STRATEGIC TRANSFORMATION PLAN
Scenario Overview
You have received an email from Gavin stead regarding the progress and risk/issues involved with
the strategic change.
▪ To: Henry Thomas
▪ From: Gavin Stead
▪ Date/time: Thursday 13 January 9:10 a.m.
▪ Subject: Strategic Transformation Risk and Communication Processes
Good morning Henry,
As you know, the planning process for our strategic transformation and launch of a Perth and Brisbane
office is well underway. We have now secured premises in Perth and are on track to commence trading in
the next few months.
As is often the case with projects such as these, things have not entirely gone to plan. Here’s a summary of
some of the risks/challenges we are facing:
▪ A number of staff members have left the CBSA organisation and have cited uncertainty about the
future of their roles as being a key reason for leaving.
▪ We are yet to secure a Brisbane location as commercial rents are proving to be significantly higher
than planned. We (perhaps unwisely) assumed that Brisbane rents would be on a par, if not less, than
Sydney rents but this is not the case.
▪ As you know, Zane O’Brien, who had significant responsibilities for the strategic transformation process
has left the CBSA organisation to undertake full time study. We therefore need to reallocate his
responsibilities to other CBSA staff members.
▪
▪ Can I please ask you to prepare a report for me to take to the Board that addresses the following:
▪ Identify potential solutions for each of the problems/risk identified above.
▪ Describe key points from the potential solutions outlined above to be communicated to both staff
members and clients.
▪ For each of the issues identified, describe what can be learned and how we can help ensure these
issues are not faced in future strategic transformation activities.
▪ Revise the timeline in light of the above information to ensure completion of the project with minimal
delay.
▪ I look forward to receiving your report.
▪ Kind Regards,
▪ Gavin Stead

● Ensure the financial stability and viability of the organisation
● Ensure compliance with legal and ethical obligations
While CBSA staff are grouped and arranged around functional operational activities, individual staff
members are commonly placed into project teams for specific purposes to meet the many needs of CBSA
clients. This can lead to situations where lines of authority and responsibility of staff members can
become blurred. Do the project responsibilities take precedence or do day-to-day operational
responsibilities take precedence?
To avoid potential conflicts, project governance forms a vital part of ensuring the clear roles and
responsibilities, levels of authority, and issue escalation and resolution processes are clearly defined for
each project. By implementing a clear plan, it is hoped that conflict will be minimalised between
functional managers needs and those of project managers.
Products/services
Due to the wide range of services offered, and the needs of these services for each client, prices are
determined for each client after the initial consultation meeting. A profit ratio of 15-20% is the minimum
amount necessary for each of the client services offered after expenses have been covered.

Appendix 4: CBSA Strategic Review Report
Strategic Review Report: New Market Expansion of CBSA
SITUATION APPRAISAL
CBSA is a consultancy company providing services to a large number of clients across Sydney. They
have been in business since 1988 under the leadership of Gavin Stead. They have primarily serviced
Sydney, with 90% of their clients in the city. Marketing and sales were traditional, with only a very basic
online presence.
Most of the business leads were inbounded through referrals or networks of the owner, the management
and the employees. In the middle of 2020, due to the pandemic, CBSA lost many clients very suddenly.
They had to change their marketing strategies to attract clients from other places across Australia to
remain in business. Now, after one year, CBSA’s total revenue is at 50% compared to 2019. However,
client spread has changed to almost 30% across Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
The board has now decided to open up two new offices in Perth and Brisbane to service the client’s while
downsizing the office in Sydney. The employees have been offered the option to move to one of the new
locations with a hefty relocation allowance. The current travel allowance will be removed when the
physical offices in Perth and Brisbane are started.
DRIVERS FOR CHANGE
▪ Economic Performance:
– Lessen dependency on a single market (Sydney) and increase presence to become a national
level company through three key cities.
– Broaden potential earnings base.
– Reduced travel expenses through local presence in more cities.
▪ Changing market:
– Increasing presence in the local market to serve them better.
– Higher sales through hiring sales managers with a better network in the new cities.
▪ Changing technology:
– CBSA has decided to implement a central CRM system to automate its process of managing
customers/leads and allocate them to salespeople in the correct city.
▪ Legislative change:
– Since the Covid pandemic has been under control, the Government will cut away the support for
business in the next three months.

REVIEW PHASE
3. The review phase will start after the establishment phase and will go on for at least 12 months.
4. Major accomplishments during this phase:

expansion v/s gains.
